Welcome to HJ's Aussies! We are located on a 40 acre Aussie Farm in Pomeroy, OH. We raise and own AKC and AKC/ASCA Eligible Australian Shepherds. I've bred and raised Aussies for roughly 15 years. My family and I are committed to bettering the breed and have made this our full time passion. Our dogs live life alongside us, not confined to kennels and pens. We provide Enrichment Areas for every age, featuring custom built agility features, condos, lounging decks, slides, ramps, water features, tether ball poles, tunnels and balance beams. We train our dogs to function as a pack unit, incorporating pack training and pack hikes, with swimming in the Lake attached to the property, into their daily life and routine. We strive to provide our dogs with mental and physical stimulation that keeps our dogs healthy not only physically, but mentally as well. Our Pack consists of retired adults ranging from 14 years old to 2 and 1/2; returned former pups that we brought back home and are now a part of our family; pups that may not have placed in a previous litter that we raise alongside our family and continue training until they are able to find placement; puppies that we held back and kept, and puppies being raised for a family to enjoy. ❤️ They are our pets and family members first, breeding is secondary. Our dogs and puppies are able to fully enjoy the use of our 40 acre farm and the adjoining Lake, which has been renovated exclusively with Enrichment areas, PlayYards, Training Yards, along with Agility courses for our Aussies to enjoy. We do daily pack hikes over the "Back 40", where scent tracking is encouraged while incorporating recall with the use of pack training to mentor our younger ones coming up. They spend their days enjoying life as members of our family, with every litter being born and raised in our home, engaged with the family and learning to navigate life as additions in our home. We function as a family based operation, with our children interacting and handling pups from birth. Our goal is to provide each of our dogs with the best life possible, for the entire time they are with us.Our Aussies range from 30# to 75#, depending on the lines and pairings. (Females are on the smaller end of 30-45#, and the males are 55-75#) Our dogs are Full Panel Genetic Health Tested, or are Clear through Parentage, and age appropriate OFA's are performed on specific pairings. Our Genetic Health Reports, Pedigrees, and Certifications are shared under our individual dog's profiles.
Our puppies are born and raised indoors with our family for the first 4 weeks, and then graduate to our Puppy Pre-K. We have both an indoor AND outdoor facility with custom PlayYards to enhance and stimulate their cognitive development through the use of sensory areas, water features, playground equipment, safe raised platforms, swings, slides and ramps, tunnels and ball pits that aid in helping to build confidence and to prepare them to succeed in any area of performance they may pursue with their new owner; or to simply make well balanced and even tempered family members. We incorporate Puppy Culture Training/ENS into every aspect of their daily lives, keeping a hands on approach throughout their development. Crate training is introduced as well as litter box training and house breaking, to allow them to have a headstart on some of the basics prior to going into their new homes. We conduct Temperament Testing and introduce pur puppies to Livestock to assist in our evaluations and assessments, to ensure the most compatible placement into their new homes. We release our puppies under a Spay and Neuter Contract Agreement between 9-10 weeks of age, unless Transport Services are being used. Then it is 10 weeks of age before they are released. Puppies will be dewormed with Panacur at 3 weeks and 6 weeks of age, where they will then receive Interceptor Plus at 8 weeks of age, prior to their take home date. They will also receive NexGard at that time as well as have been given their first round of vaccinations. WE OFFER GROUND TRANSPORT OPTIONS for those that cannot come directly to us to get their puppy. I do not offer Full Breeding Rights except to our select approved list. We provide the best environment and essentials needed not only for our adult dogs, but also in raising healthy, happy, well-rounded, and even-tempered puppies that go on to be lifelong family members with families that are given the opportunity to own them. We provide lifelong Breeder support, and are available to assist our families and puppies at any time, well after the puppies have grown and are into senior age status. We require our Pet Adoption Questionairre be submitted in order to be approved for placement. We screen every family that requests a puppy in order to make sure they are knowledgeable on the breed and will be able to work WITH the breed characteristics, and not against it.
